Job Description
Job Summary
The Assistant Housekeeper – Public Area is responsible for supervising the cleanliness and upkeep of all hotel public areas, ensuring a clean, safe and pleasant environment for guests and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily cleaning and maintenance of hotel public areas.
- Ensure the lobby, corridors, washrooms, lifts, restaurants, function areas and other public spaces are maintained to hotel standards.
- Assign daily duties and monitor the performance of Public Area Attendants.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness and presentation standards are maintained.
- Ensure cleaning equipment, chemicals and supplies are used correctly and safely.
- Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies and request replenishment when required.
- Coordinate with Engineering and other departments on maintenance issues identified in public areas.
- Respond promptly to guest requests and cleanliness-related concerns.
- Ensure proper cleaning schedules and checklists are followed.
- Train, coach and guide Public Area Attendants on cleaning procedures and service standards.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Report any safety hazards, damages or maintenance issues to the relevant department.
- Assist with deep cleaning and special cleaning projects when required.
- Ensure compliance with hotel, hygiene, safety and Accor housekeeping standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Management.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Housekeeping, preferably in a hotel environment.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- Good knowledge of public area cleaning procedures and standards.
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
- Good leadership and team coordination skills.
- Responsible, hardworking and service-oriented.
- Able to work independently and manage daily operational tasks.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- Open to Malaysian candidates only; preferably local Sarawakian
