Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are
JobMaxx operates a job board platform. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights over it. References to “we”, “us”, or “our” mean JobMaxx.
2. Data We Collect
Account data
When you register we collect your email address, a hashed password, your role (seeker or employer), and your account creation timestamp.
Profile data (seekers)
Experience level, skills, location preferences, remote preference, salary floor, and an optional resume file. All fields are optional beyond email and password.
Profile data (employers)
Company name, company website, and optional legal name — used for trust verification of job listings.
Job listings
Content you submit as an employer (title, description, salary range, apply URL) is stored and displayed publicly to job seekers.
Applications
Cover letters and application status are stored and shared with the employer you applied to.
Usage data
We record limited first-party marketing CTA clicks on our own pages (e.g. which call-to-action buttons are clicked) to understand how users navigate to sign-up. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, and we honor browser opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control for this analytics capture.
Payment data
Payments are processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription ID. We never store card numbers or payment method details.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To operate the platform — account authentication, job matching, fit scoring, alert delivery
- To improve trust and safety — moderation, report review, fraud detection
- To send transactional emails — email verification, password resets, job alerts you subscribed to, billing receipts
- To process billing — subscription management via Stripe
We do not sell your data to advertisers. We do not use your data to train AI models. We do not share your data with third parties except as described in section 4.
4. Data Sharing
We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- With employers you apply to — your cover letter and application status are shared with the poster of the job you applied to
- With Stripe — billing information to process payments
- With our email provider — your email address and the content of transactional emails
- As required by law — if compelled by a valid legal order
5. Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. Resume files are automatically deleted after 180 days of inactivity, or immediately when you delete your account.
Audit logs are retained for up to 10,000 entries on a rolling basis. Billing records are retained as required by law.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — download a full JSON export from your profile page at any time
- Delete your data — permanently delete your account and all associated data from your profile page
- Correct your data — update your profile information at any time
- Unsubscribe from alerts — one-click unsubscribe link is included in every alert email
- Object to processing — contact us at the address below
We aim to respond to all data requests within 30 days.
7. Cookies and Local Storage
We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie is essential for the platform to function and is not used for tracking.
We use browser localStorage to remember your light/dark mode preference.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. First-party CTA analytics does not set analytics cookies and is disabled when your browser sends supported opt-out signals.
8. Security
Passwords are hashed with scrypt and never stored in plain text. MFA secrets are encrypted at rest, invite links and reset tokens are protected with signing or hashing, and all data is transmitted over HTTPS.
We perform regular backups and maintain an audit log of all sensitive moderation actions.
9. Children
JobMaxx is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has registered, please contact us and we will delete the account promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
