About the role
- Join Duolingo's Localization team within Scaling Operations to turn complex, high-volume localization work into durable, low-touch systems that scale across our 30+ UI languages.
- You'll own the end-to-end programs that bring promising product ideas into long-term, scalable operations, improving launch speed, quality, and efficiency.
- Working closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and language partners, you will help build the systems that keep localization in lockstep with Duolingo's growth.

- Drive automation and system improvements to scale from 0-to-1 and beyond, leveraging technology to make localized content production simpler, more repeatable, and more transparent
- Own the metrics for your vertical to improve strategy, decision-making, and prioritization
- Cultivate relationships with key partners (marketing, product, design, engineering) to develop a localization strategy and roadmap for your area; develop and socialize best practices and ways of working
- Establish workflows and tooling that increase localization throughput and quality across our system.

- Demonstrated experience crafting localization strategy and systems for new features and experiences, in collaboration with product, design, and engineering partners
- A track record of building and leading localization programs in a cross-functional consumer app environment
- Tech-savviness. You are proficient in managing and scaling workloads using technology, including AI, CMSs, and CAT tools
- Excellent communication skills; you influence without authority and align diverse stakeholders to drive decisions
- Comfort defining goals and metrics and translating insights into actionable engineering

- Hands-on experience in localization quality frameworks and ecosystems
- Familiarity with internationalization engineering concepts such as Unicode handling and message format in consumer apps

- The offered salary is dependent upon several factors, including work experience, skills, and internal peer comparisons.

$142,800 — $193,200 USD
